Former Manchester United player Memphis Depay posts bizarre video amid Liverpool FC transfer talk

Former Manchester United winger Memphis Depay has fuelled speculation that he could be on the move this summer by posting a bizarre video on Instagram.

The Dutchman left United for Lyon in January 2017 and has proven a success in Ligue 1, triggering speculation that he could be set for a stunning return to the Premier League this summer.

Following the conclusion of the French season, with Lyon beating 3-2 in their final game on Friday — a game in which Depay played the full 90 minutes — the 25-year-old headed to his bright red private jet with the message "merci Lyon".

Dressed all in red too, he later posted a picture of himself on board the plane with an emoji depicting a Formula 1 finishing flag. Whether he's hinting at a possible transfer or merely indicating the end of the season, it's difficult to tell.

The video comes that Lyon are open to selling Depay, who has a buy-back clause inserted into his contract following an exit from United that totalled £22million with add-ons.

Depay has scored 39 goals in 119 games for the club, who finished the Ligue 1 season in third place.
