Former Manchester United manager sends Real Madrid summer transfer warning

David Moyes believes Manchester United will have no problem in keeping their key players when the summer transfer window opens.

Paul Pogba has been linked with a move to Real Madrid after admitting it would be a 'dream' to turn out for La Liga outfit while on international duty with France last week.

Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane fuelled further uncertainty over Pogba's Old Trafford future by talking up the midfielder's credentials ahead of Los Blancos' league game against Huesca on Friday.

"I know him personally," Zidane said of Pogba, whose current United deal expires in 2021. "He brings so much and there are few players who bring as much as he does. He's a midfielder who knows how to defend and how to attack."

Pogba remains the most expensive acquisition in United's history after his £89 million in the summer of 2016, but recent reports have suggested that the 26-year-old's agent, Mino Raiola, could engineer a move to the Santiago Bernabéu this summer.

But Moyes, who was sacked after 10 months as United manager in 2014, believes United hold the cards.

“Manchester United don’t let players go unless they want to let them go," the Scot told BBC Radio 5 Live's Sportsweek programme.

“So if Manchester United don’t want them, they’ll make sure they go. If they want to keep them, I’m sure they’ll try to keep them. I’ve got no doubt about that, and especially players who are in contract.

“There’s always speculation around Manchester United and players but ultimately the club are very professional and I’m sure they’ll make sure that the players they want to keep they do keep.”
