Former Manchester United man Lee Sharpe makes damning Ole Gunnar Solskjaer prediction

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be sacked at the start of next season if Manchester United suffer a similar run of form to the one they’re currently on, former player Lee Sharpe has claimed.

The Red Devils ’ loss to Manchester City in midweek leaves the club with seven defeats in their last nine matches across all competitions, sending Solskjaer’s side crashing out of the Champions League and FA Cup, as well as seeing their hopes of a top-four finish looking bleak.

According to former United winger Lee Sharpe, Solskjaer ’s position may be under threat if he cannot improve the form of his side next season.

“I’m not particularly confident that Solskjaer is the right choice to be trusted with taking Manchester United back to where they belong,” he told SportingBet.

“There’s no hiding the fact that Manchester United cannot afford to lose these games against Manchester City and Chelsea.

“The club is already on a dreadful run of results and eight defeats in 10 games is unacceptable by anyone’s standards, but I don’t think it would cause the club to have second thoughts about appointing Solskjaer.

“I think the board would have expected a wobble and the fact it has happened so soon, before he has had a chance in the transfer market, should save him.

“However, if Manchester United start next season with a run of results that we’re seeing at the moment, they may well hit the panic button.”
