Former Manchester United favourite Rafael aims 'ghost' jibe at Alexis Sanchez over transfer comments

Former Manchester United defender Rafael has angrily responded to Alexis Sanchez's comments about wanting to leave the club after his first training session.

Sanchez joined United in January 2018 in a highly-publicised swap deal that saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan go to the Emirates in part exchange.

Despite his sky-high wages and the expectation on his shoulders, Sanchez scored just five goals in 45 appearances at Old Trafford.

He was subsequently loaned out to Inter Milan by Ole Gunnar Solksjaer last season before joining the Serie A side permanently last month.

Sanchez publicly now opened up on his regret of joining United in a video on Instagram, which hasn't gone down with Rafael.

“I got the opportunity to go to United and it seemed tempting to me," he said.

"It was something nice for me, because when I was a kid I liked that club a lot.

“I ended up signing without much information about what was happening in the move. The first days that I was with my colleagues, sometimes there are things that you do not realise until you arrive.

“The first training I had I realised many things. I got home and I told my representative: 'Can't the contract be terminated to return to Arsenal?'

“They start laughing and I told them that something did not sit right with me. It had already been signed.”

The Brazilian defender, who was popular during his time at the club, showed his displeasure at Sanchez's comments by replying to a Sport Bible post of Sanchez's quotes on Instagram.

His replay said: "Maybe he saw a ghost and get scared that’s explain why he play so bad every time."
