Former Manchester United defender has his say on who's to blame for Steve McClaren's QPR exit

Paul Parker has spoken out against Queens Park Rangers, saying that Steve McClaren wasn't to blame for his sacking.

The former England manager lost his job after 11 months in the role, but instead of blaming McClaren, Parker said that the club needed to take responsibility for their actions over recent years.

As well as discussing the club's poor financial management, Parker said that the focus must now be on finding a manager who can help the club retain their Championship status while QPR look to rectify their recent errors of judgement.

Speaking to TalkSPORT, Parker said: "The agenda has to that they'll play young players because they've got a situation with the money.

"They can't go out and spend. They're going to come in and all we're looking for is for them to bring young players through and keep us in the Championship so that we can get ourselves sorted.

"Steve McClaren - it wasn't his fault. The fault is with the club. The fault is with the people in charge of the club. That's the biggest problem.

Next QPR manager: Former West Brom boss among the favourites to succeed Steve McClaren

"Fulham have gone and done what Queens Park Rangers have done - not as severe as what QPR have done but QPR went out and spent too much money trying to bring too many big names into a club like Rangers and it all fell apart.

"They haven't recovered from it. There's been too much talking and not enough action, that's the problem. There's not enough structure in what they did when they got promoted.

"They had two bites of the cherry and they blew both of them."
