Former Manchester United coach 'has quit' latest role to join Nottingham Forest

Former Manchester United reserves manager Warren Joyce is reportedly set to join Nottingham Forest.

Joyce, who managed United's reserves from 2008 until 2016, has quit his role coaching the development squad at League Two side Salford City, according to The Sun on Sunday.

The 56-year-old coach moved into senior management in 2016 when he was appointed manager of Wigan Athletic in the Championship.

However, he was sacked just four months later after a dismal run of just six wins in 24 matches.

He then moved to Australia after taking charge of A-League side Melbourne City in 2017, spending just shy of two years at the club before returning to England and joining Salford City.

And now he is set to join Chris Hughton's backroom as a coach with the club's Under-23s.

Former Forest striker Andy Reid was put in interim charge of the under-23s last August after Chris Cohen's departure, before being given the job on a full-time basis in January of this year.

It is uncertain how Joyce's arrival would affect Reid's position at the club.

Joyce could have been hired as a more experienced helping hand for Reid, who is in the early stages of his coaching career.

It is also possible that Reid has taken up a new role within the club's academy, or could be leaving for pastures new.
