Former Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick sends Tottenham message amid manager hunt

Manchester United's former interim manager Ralf Rangnick has hinted that Tottenham Hotspur could do worse than to reunite him with Julian Nagelsmann at the club this summer.

Rangnick is currently coaching the Austria national team and is under contract until at least next year's European Championship in Germany and potentially longer should the country qualify. That has not stopped the 64-year-old from suggesting Nagelsmann could benefit from a familiar face in north London should Spurs move to appoint the recently sacked Bayern Munich head coach.

Rangnick and Nagelsmann previously worked together at RB Leipzig. Tottenham are searching for a new sporting director after Fabio Paratici resigned earlier this month. Despite their current plight, Rangnick remains adamant about the attractiveness of working at Spurs.

"I think Tottenham are an exciting club in more ways than one," Rangnick told Sky Germany, relayed by the Express. "They probably have one of the most modern, beautiful stadiums in the world at the moment. They have one of the best training centres there is at the moment, and Daniel Levy, who has been running the club for many, many years."

The Austria head coach added: "If Tottenham really want (Nagelsmann), then I think it would be important if a sporting director was still there to stand by him. This can be a very, very exciting story. There’s room for improvement, a lot of room for improvement, and yet it’s not a club where you expect to finish in the top one, two or three right away."
