Former Manchester United and Man City star Carlos Tevez takes on first managerial job

Carlos Tevez has begun a career in football management after taking up the post at Argentine side Rosario Central.

The former Manchester United and Manchester City star has wasted little time in taking the next step in his football career after only announcing his retirement from playing the sport earlier in June at the age of 38. Tevez staved off competition from Pablo Sanchez for the role at the historic club, who are looking for rejuvenation after finishing 16th in the Argentine Primeira Division last season.

Tevez hung up his boots having been without a club since July last year following his release from Boca Juniors. He has signed an initial 12-month contract with Rosario Central and will be joined by former national teammate Carlos Retegui in his coaching set-up.

"I am really excited about the project I am putting together with my brothers and Chapa Retegui," Tevez said on his excitement of moving into coaching before landing the job at the Estadio Gigante de Arroyito. “I have decided to coach.

“We have been working together for four or five months and we are putting together a really good, global project. I am really into this.”

It's reported that Tevez has been preparing for his first job in management by studying in Europe, particularly Italy, after watching training sessions at his former club Juventus, as well as AC Milan. He takes over at Rosario Central from Leandro Somoza, who stepped down from the position after just three months in charge.
