Former Man Utd striker Carlos Tevez opens door to sensational Premier League return

Former Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez has opened the door to a sensational Premier League return - with one of his other old clubs.

Tevez says if he was to return to Europe from his spell with Boca Juniors in his native Argentina, it would be with West Ham.

The 36-year-old joined the Hammers from Corinthians in a controversial deal in 2006, scoring the goals to keep the Londoners in the Premier League.

He left for Old Trafford after just one season in the East End before going on to spend four years at Manchester City.

Tevez has not played in the English top flight since departing the Etihad for Juventus, and is now at his third spell at Boca via a money-spinning stint with Shanghai Shenhua in the Chinese Super League.

He was due to be out of contract on Tuesday, but has penned a six-month extension to stay. Tevez says all the money he earns from his fresh contract will go to charity.

"If I had to go back to Europe I would go to West Ham for six months to be applauded," he told Radio La Red.

"Or spend six months at Corinthians. I won't rule anything out because I don't want to be a slave to my words."

Tevez's initial stint at West Ham - arriving alongside compatriot Javier Mascherano - was shrouded in controversy regarding third-party ownership.

Sheffield United, who were relegated at the Hammers' expense, sued their rivals but their top-flight place was not reinstated.
