Former Man Utd star Louis Saha makes "very scary" prediction about Mason Greenwood

Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha has warned Premier League rivals Mason Greenwood will develop into a "very scary player".

Greenwood, 18, burst onto the scene for the Red Devils last season, scoring 17 goals across all competitions after initially impressing in the Europa League and domestic cups.

The Carrington academy graduate has established himself as United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first choice on the right wing, though he has also shone when used as a centre-forward.

And Greenwood has received a vote of confidence from former Old Trafford ace Saha, who backed the Englishman to make good on his "frightening potential".

"Mason Greenwood has frightening potential. He is already a very good player and his finishing is incredible. If he continues to improve, wow," Saha told the Football Index podcast .

"The biggest improvement of his game has been on the physical side. Greenwood is only going to become tougher and fitter as he gets older, it’s incredible to think what he is capable of as just a teenager.

"I can only see Greenwood’s finishing continuing to get better and he is going to be a very scary player in the Premier League.

"He’s very self-confident and doesn’t hesitate about shooting again if he has missed a chance, he has all the attributes to be a big success story for Manchester United.

"The only question mark is about consistency and whether he will be able to perform at a similar level next season, but I’m very confident that he will."

Saha also heaped praise Greenwood's forward partner Marcus Rashford for his versatility and intensity.

The former France star added: “I think Marcus Rashford really shows his versatility by being able to play both on the wing and in the central striker role to such high quality.

"He has the energy and pace to either cut inside and shoot, or keep the width and put in a cross.

"It’s a decision for Solskjaer on how Rashford can most hurt the opposition because of his ability to maintain that high level of energy is unreal. He’s capable of doing anything on the pitch.

“Rashford also has the work ethic and stamina to defend on the wing and that’s an incredible attribute to have as a forward. Can you imagine me working tirelessly on the wing like Rashford does?

"I would be dying and needing a rest by 60 minutes!”
