Former Man Utd player Marouane Fellaini breaks silence on possible Jose Mourinho reunion at Tottenham

Former Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini has brushed off suggestions that he could reunite with Jose Mourinho at Tottenham Hotspur.

Fellaini was sold by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in January this year to join Chinese Super League side Shandong Luneng, but enjoyed a healthy relationship with Mourinho, the Norwegian's predecessor.

And the Belgian admitted he retains a good relationship with Mourinho while the pair contact each other regularly — but he dismissed reports that he could swap China for North London in the upcoming January window.

It had been reported that Mourinho was keen to work with the 31-year-old again, as he looks to reshape the current Spurs squad after taking over from Mauricio Pochettino.

"Jose is special for me," Fellaini told Eleven Sports. "We text each other, we call each other from time to time.

"He's taken over at Spurs and he's doing well. I wish him all the best. But I am good where I am now."

Fellaini has a contract for another two years in the Chinese Super League after United brought to an end his turbulent five and a half year stay at Old Trafford.

He made 177 appearances for United under Mourinho, Louis van Gaal and David Moyes, scoring 22 goals and winning three major trophies.
