Former Man Utd manager Jose Mourinho delivers Liverpool title prediction ahead of Man City game

Jose Mourinho thinks that the Premier League title will be going to Liverpool if they defeat Manchester City in today's Super Sunday clash.

Liverpool have built up a six-point lead on Man City ahead of the game and have a chance to extend their lead as Pep Guardiola's side arrive.

Mourinho, who has yet to accept a new managerial role since being sacked by United in December, is a pundit on Sky Sports' coverage of the match and he was asked his opinion on how key the game is for the title race.

He explained: “I think Jurgen cannot say it but I can, I think nine points is, for a very good team, it’s a difference that you just have to control, so I would say that if Liverpool win the game today, they will win the league.

“I don’t think a point is enough for them. City are a very good team, they are capable of very strong runs, of consecutive victories and a slip for Liverpool will always happen.

“So I think it can be a little bit of a contradiction because Liverpool is a team with a six-point advantage but, for me, a draw would be a positive result for City and a bad result for Liverpool.

“Liverpool have to get momentum and, in my opinion, win the game at home at Anfield, that’s the only good result for Liverpool.”

The game at Anfield kicks-off at 4.30pm.
