Former Man United striker delivers stark warning on £50m Aaron Wan-Bissaka deal

Former Manchester United striker Michael Owen has questioned the fee his old club are paying for Crystal Palace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

The Eagles academy graduate is set to join the Red Devils in a deal worth a reported £50m, after Manchester United had two previous bids turned down by Palace.

But football.london understands that a fee has now been agreed between the two clubs, with reports suggesting that Manchester United will pay £45million up front, with an additional £5million in add-ons.

Both Palace and fans have been reacting to the deal and the reported fee for the 21-year-old, who has made 46 appearances for the Eagles since making his professional debut in February 2018.

However, Owen has suggested that while he has been impressed with Wan-Bissaka, he will have to improve to justify the big outlay from United.

Writing on social networking website Twitter, the former Liverpool and United striker said: "Transfer window starting to hot up. I like Wan-Bissaka defensively but he’ll need to improve on the ball and going forward to justify the huge fee. I’d expect the finished article for that money."

It is understood that Wan-Bissaka will now travel to Manchester to complete the deal, with the England U21 international expected to sign a long-term contract with the Red Devils.
