Former Man City star makes Sergio Aguero claim amid Chelsea transfer links

Former Manchester City midfielder Steve McManaman says Sergio Aguero would score 30 goals a season if he completed a move to Chelsea this summer.

The Argentina international is out of contract at the end of the current season and will be leaving Manchester City after an extraordinarily successful spell in the North West.

Aguero has scored 182 Premier League goals for City, grabbing his latest with a stunning finish in the 2-0 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Aguero will not be short of suitors when his contract does run out, with plenty of clubs around Europe and in South America linked to the 32-year-old.

Following Chelsea's progress to the Champions League final with a win against Real Madrid, they could be lining up against Aguero in Istanbul at the end of May.

But on a night when Chelsea spurned numerous chances, the topic of a new striker at Stamford Bridge was raised by BT Sport pundits covering the match.

The possibility of a move for Aguero was raised by Glenn Hoddle, with Steve McManaman stating that the striker would guarantee goals for Thomas Tuchel's side.

"It depends if he wants to," McManaman said when asked by Glenn Hoddle if he could see the Manchester City star moving to Stamford Bridge.

"[It depends] if he wants to stay in this country. But if he stays fit and well, he’d get you 30 a year, I don’t think there would be any problem with that."
