Former Man City star makes ridiculous Jurgen Klopp claim after Liverpool boss wins FIFA award

Former Manchester City star Danny Mills has provided a somewhat ridiculous claim about Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp after he secured the The Best FIFA men's coach award.

The Reds enjoyed a fantastic 2018/19 campaign as they won the Champions League and amassed 97 points in the Premier League.

Whilst they failed to win the title, Liverpool were only edged out by one point as Man City retained their league crown.

Mills has reacted to the announcement of the award, which Klopp picked up in Milan on Monday evening, by questioning why the Liverpool boss was seen to have had a stronger last season than Pep Guardiola.

The former England defender even suggested that it's Klopp's personality - and not just his coaching talent - which led to him picking up the gong.

"Are people saying Klopp is better than Guardiola? Liverpool won the Champions League, which is sensational, but it's a Cup," Mills told talkSPORT. "They didn't win every game going through that competition. Manchester City won the league and the way they played was great.

"It's difficult to argue because they went so close in the league and Klopp is outstanding but he is also media friendly.

"If that would have been (Jose) Mourinho who would have come second and won the Champions League, would he have got the vote? No chance. We don't always judge people on their footballing ability, often it comes down to personality."

It's safe to say this a ridiculous statement. Klopp is much more than a personality and last season proved that. Case closed.
