Former Man City player pinpoints moment Pep Guardiola may have 'signed' reported transfer target

Former Man City defender Wayne Bridge has revealed the moment in which Pep Guardiola may have 'sealed' the signing of reported transfer target and fellow left-back Ben Chilwell.

City are expected to splash the cash this summer in order to reinforce their squad in order to continue their domestic dominance and finally find success in the Champions League.

Defence is an area in which Man City are expected to strengthen this summer and the Blues have been linked with a number of full-backs, with Ben Chilwell emerging as a top target.

Although, the MEN understands that City's summer transfer plans will not include left-backs despite the speculation surrounding the Leicester City defender.

This, however, hasn't stopped Bridge from believing that Guardiola may have already laid the ground work to sign Chilwell.

Man City 'willing to pay Antoine Griezmann release clause' and more transfer rumours

Man City great pinpoints the perfect summer signing for Pep Guardiola

"Chilwell, I think, great player," he told FourFourTwo.

"And I think Gareth [Southgate] likes him quite a lot. And there’s talk of him going to City.

"I remember he had a hug with Pep after the (Manchester City v Leicester) game so that might have been it signed, sealed and delivered."

Bridge, who represented City 58 times, also thinks that the highly promising Chilwell would go from strength to strength under the stewardship of Guardiola.

"If he goes there, I think Pep will just take him to the next level – you see how much he improves players or he gets the good out of players.

"If Chilwell goes to City, he’ll (continue) pushing Luke Shaw for an England spot, 100 per cent."
