Former Man City player Joleon Lescott chooses between Yaya Toure and Kevin De Bruyne

Former Man City defender Joleon Lescott has made a claim about Blues' great Yaya Toure and current star Kevin de Bruyne.

De Bruyne has starred for City this season, bagging nine assists and three goals in 12 Premier League games.

Whilst De Bruyne hasn't netted in the Champions League, his displays have also helped City progress through to the knockout stages as Group C winners with one game to spare.

The 28-year-old's name naturally came up several times during the analysis of City's 1-1 draw against Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday evening, with both Lescott and former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves hailing the Belgium.

But when asked who he would prefer in an ultimate XI team if he had to choose between De Bruyne and his former team-mate Toure , Lescott had a firm answer.

"I would go Yaya because he had the ability to just win the game regardless of what situation we were in. Yaya Toure was a match-winner at any given time," Lescott told BT Sport.

On De Bruyne, Lescott said: "The fact that he makes the right decisions is key to his success and he's got the quality as well."

Hargreaves added: "If I could pay to watch one player in the Premier League it would be him (De Bruyne).

"He makes the game look so easy and he also plays the right pass. His awareness is off the charts. If you are a young player, watch this guy."
