Former Man City defender Vincent Kompany berates own supporters over Simon Mignolet incident

Ex- Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany angrily confronted his own supporters during Anderlecht's fixture against Club Brugge after Simon Mignolet was targeted by firecrackers.

The Belgian left the Blues in the summer after lifting another Premier League title and moved back to Anderlecht in a player/coach role.

However, at the end of August, Kompany decided to step down from his managerial role to focus on his duties as a player.

During Anderlecht's fixture against Club Brugge, former Liverpool goalkeeper Mignolet was targeted by supporters from behind the goal as he lined up to take a goal kick.

Play was stopped after a firecracker was thrown in the vicinity of the Belgium international.

Their actions prompted Kompany to angrily condemn their actions and plead with them to stop.

The captain then went to console Mignolet and play eventually resumed.

Anderlecht took the lead in the 21st minute through Antoine Colassin but lost the game 2-1 after a brace from Hans Vanaken.

Kompany's side are currently ninth in the Belgium Pro League.
