Former Man City defender left torn on transfer decision facing Pep Guardiola

Wayne Bridge believes that Pep Guardiola may well keep faith in his current left-back options at Manchester City rather than dip into the market for a new one.

Benjamin Mendy has been linked with a move away from the club this summer, which would leave the squad light on natural left-backs.

Oleksandr Zinchenko has slotted into that role relatively seamlessly in recent campaigns, while Joao Cancelo has also switched sides on occasion to fill the gap.

City have spent a great deal of money on the position, but are yet to come up with a permanent solution. Angelino was bought back from PSV Eindhoven in 2019 to play there, but was shipped off on loan to RB Leipzig within six months of his return.

This week the club were linked with a surprise move for Antonee Robinson, who was relegated from the Premier League with Fulham last season.

Former City full-back Bridge thinks that Guardiola may just refrain from splashing more cash on another left-back and rely on what he already has instead.

"[Guardiola] has had faith in the players that he’s had," Bridge told bettingexpert.com.

"But City do have a habit of splashing out each year on full-backs and if you’re Pep maybe [you want another left-back].

"You just never know. City do like to spend money but I just couldn’t call it."
