Former Man City defender blasted by Liverpool fans for questioning Jurgen Klopp's trophy haul

Former Manchester City defender Danny Mills has questioned whether Jurgen Klopp can be classed as a Liverpool great after winning one trophy in four years at the club.

The Reds boss marked his four-year anniversary at the club on Tuesday.

In his spell on Merseyside, Klopp has turned Liverpool from top-six strugglers into Champions League winners.

Liverpool also came agonisingly close to winning the Premier League title last season when their points haul of 97 points was bettered by Manchester City by a single point.

Given the Reds recorded the third-highest points tally in the Premier League's history, Klopp can feel hard done to not to have already ended theS 30-year wait for a league title at the club.

However, compared to Pep Guardiola's trophy haul, Klopp's cabinet looks rather bare with the Reds man collecting only two trophies during his spell on Mersyside.

Despite his undoubted success at Anfield, former City man Mills has questioned whether Klopp can be put up against the club's best managers, due to his inferior trophy haul.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Mills said: "Four years, one trophy, is that enough?

"If Liverpool were going to go to the end of this season, doesn't look like it now, and only still have one trophy at the end of that, would that be enough?

"You'd be almost five seasons and one trophy, where does that rank him above or alongside Liverpool greats?

"Yes the brand of football is great, he's got them close, they've won the Champions League.

"But where, even as it stands now, one trophy in four years, where is he amongst the Liverpool great managers?"

Mills' take has gone down like a led balloon with some Liverpool supporters. Not to mention the inaccuracy of his one trophy comment, given Liverpool have also won the Super Cup with the Reds this season.

Here's a look at what they had to say on social media...
