Former Man City boss fires warning to Mauricio Pochettino and Jurgen Klopp about trophy droughts

Former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has been talking about life in football management, and has claimed that both Mauricio Pochettino and Liverpool boss Jugen Klopp would not have survived in Italy having not won any trophies with their clubs.

"Coaches in Italy? We know that it always exaggerates here," said the 54-year old, peaking to Tutti Convocati (via calciomercato.com ).  "Let's think about Pochettino: 5 years at Tottenham, he has a great team and he didn't win anything, in Italy they would have killed him!

"The same goes for Klopp; in Italy there are coaches who win and are questioned, then the Champions is never easy to win."

Pochettino joined Tottenham from Premier League rivals Southampton in May 2014. Despite reaching the final of the EFL cup in his debut season, and finishing in the top three of the league in each of the last three seasons, the Argentinian is yet to pick up any silverware as Spurs manager.

Despite the lack of trophies, Pochettino has earned praise for the job that he has done in developing a Spurs team that is able to challenge both in the Premier League and in the elite European competitions. It was thought to be a target for Manchester United before the permanent appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjær, as well as being a long term target for Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Mancini spent three-and-a-half years in the hot-seat at the Etihad Stadium, guiding the club to their first Premier League title in 2011/12, while also winning the FA Cup in 2010/11.
