Former Married At First Sight (MAFS) bride Ella Ding has clapped back at the backlash she received after using a sponsored Instagram post to announce that she was pregnant.
Last week, Ella and her husband Guy Palermo took to IG with a loved-up post announcing that they are expecting a bebé. Although the pics were adorable, eagle-eyed fans quickly clocked that the announcement was sponsored by pregnancy test brand Clearblue.
“Somewhere between healing and hustling, the next chapter quietly chose us. Baby Palermo you’ve already made our story sweeter and given us the best news of 2025 yet ✨🥹,” she captioned the post, alongside the hashtags “ad”, “clearblueconfirmed” and a warning to “always read the label and follow directions for use”.

As a result, Ella began receiving some backlash, with her former friend and Sit With Us podcast host Domenica Calarco even chiming in.
“Even has to monetise her pregnancy announcement. Some people will never change. Wow,” Domenica commented on the Aussie influencer gossip page, Influencer Updates AU.
In another comment, Domenica also stated that she was working on something that would divulge the tea about her friendship breakdown with Ella.

In a chat with Yahoo! Lifestyle, Ella defended her decision to team up with a brand for the exciting announcement.
“It was a no-brainer. When the opportunity came to me, I was like, ‘Well, Clearblue literally told me I’m pregnant’. Like, I don’t really know how much more you can align with a brand,” she said.
In fact, she admits she was a bit surprised to see the backlash.
“The response I was like, ‘That’s a bit weird’, but at the same time, it made sense to me, and that’s like anything that I do, promote or talk about. If it makes sense to me and my people understand, that’s all that matters.
“And if you got offered, you would take it!”
According to Ella, she and Guy are open to all sorts of baby-related sponsorship opportunities.
“Having a baby is fucking expensive. The cost of living is fucked,” she continued, adding that the pair plan on opening up a bank account for the baby when its born.
“We’re gonna open up a little bank account when it’s born, and that’s what we’re gonna do,” she said.
“It’s something that I wish my parents did for me from when I was a young age, and something that I really want to do for our baby to start helping them save from a really young age.”

Ella has recently returned to the podcasting space with her brand new solo podcast, The Ella Era.
While she’s kicked off the pod with a pregnancy Q&A, she says the podcast will be about “the habits, mindsets and moments that have helped her grow”.
To be totally frank, I would 100 per cent do a sponsored pregnancy announcement if someone wanted to pay me.
Plus, its worth noting that it’s not that cwazy for celebs and reality stars to be paid to share their big life news through sponsored ventures. From magazine interviews to photoshoots, this is pretty well-trodden territory.
So, in conclusion, let a girl get her bag!!!
