Former Liverpool youngster Bobby Adekanye opens up on Anfield exit

Former Liverpool youngster Bobby Adekanye has opened up on his move to Lazio.

The ex-Academy starlet made the Serie A switch last summer, joining forces with former Reds duo Lucas Leiva and Luis Alberto in Rome.

In explaining the reason he decided to make the transfer to Italy, Adekanye has admitted he didn't see any future for himself at Anfield.

The 21-year-old, who has made three appearances and scored once in the Italian top flight this season, told The National: “Liverpool offered me a three-year contract, but I didn’t really see any plans for me in the future.

“It felt like they were just saying: ‘just sign the contract and we’ll see’, which didn’t look good to me and my family.

"I felt like I was ready to join the first team, even though they have a lot of talent.

"Lazio were very ambitious, and they showed me that they wanted me in the team, and that they had some pretty good plans for the future."

The Italian outfit are currently tussling for the Serie A title with Juventus.

Lazio are currently four points off the top spot with a game in hand on their rivals.
