Former Liverpool winger Jordon Ibe denies leaving scene after coffee shop crash

Former Liverpool footballer Jordon Ibe has denied driving away after crashing his Bentley into a coffee shop this summer.

The Premier League winger, who now plays for Bournemouth, will face a trial after he pleaded not guilty to failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

The Bournemouth midfielder, 23, is accused of driving off after ploughing into The Pantry on Plaistow Lane in Bromley, south London, in the early hours of July 30.

The shop was so badly damaged the entire shop front had to be removed from its foundations to render it safe.

The estimated cost was said to £18,000.

A Mercedes parked in front of the shop also suffered minor damage.

The player appeared at Bromley Magistrates' Court today, where he denied failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

He did not enter his pleas to a second charge of driving without due care and attention.

Ibe, who signed for Bournemouth from Liverpool in 2016 for a reported £15 million fee, was charged by postal requisition on October 29.

The attacking midfielder then joined Liverpool in 2012, but was unable to secure a starting place in the first team.

He ended up going out on loan to Championship clubs Birmingham City in the 2013-14 season and Derby County in 2014-15.

When Jurgen Klopp took over at Anfield from Brendan Rodgers, Ibe was given a further chance to stake his claim for a place in the first team.

But he failed to make the grade and was sold to The Cherries.
