Former Liverpool 'target' closing in on Premier League move after 'desperate' transfer stance

Nottingham Forest are reportedly closing in on the signing of Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar - a name Liverpool fans are likely to remember.

The 24-year-old has consistently been linked with an exit from his current employers in recent years, much like his ex-team-mate Nabil Fekir, and had emerged as a rumoured target for the Reds in the last two years.

Arsenal are another Premier League team to have been in the running for Aouar and apparently saw three bids rejected by Lyon for the Frenchman in the summer of 2020.

Sky Sports Italy have claimed Steve Cooper's side are likely to return with a second bid as they look to wrap up a deal.

The Daily Mail describe Lyon as being 'desperate' to offload their Academy graduate, whose long list of suitors seems to have reasonably shrunk this summer.
