Former Liverpool striker makes Timo Werner prediction which is bad news for Chelsea

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will be keen to sign Timo Werner this summer.

That's the view of ex-Reds striker Emile Heskey.

The Germany international has been linked with a move to the Premier League ahead of the summer transfer window, with Chelsea and Manchester United among the clubs reportedly interested

Football.London ’s Chelsea correspondent Oliver Harbord answered some supporters’ questions on Thursday afternoon and he had some bad news for supporters with his admission over who is leading the race for Werner.

“Another player who will be hot property this summer when it comes to transfer interest, but it’s not one for Chelsea fans to get too excited about just yet," he said. "Liverpool have been the one club who have led the line when it comes to landing Werner this summer.

And in another potential blow for the west London outfit, Heskey has predicted that Reds boss Klopp will be open to the idea of Werner making the switch to Anfield this summer.

"Timo Werner is another young player who has done phenomenally well," Heskey said when speaking exclusively to GentingBet.

"When you’re bringing in young players, you want ones that are tried and tested, who knows what it takes to perform at the top level.

"Those players are always going to be an asset. Werner looks phenomenal – his pace looks great. Klopp obviously knows a lot about the German League as well, so I’m sure he’ll be keen to get his teeth stuck into him."

In more worrying news for the Blues, Werner has recently admitted that Liverpool's style of play is suited to him.

"Jurgen Klopp is the best coach in the world," he told Sky Germany last month.

There is much to suggest that I would fit in well with my style of play.

"But I don't think about that at the moment because we have so much to do with Leipzig. I won't rule out anything.

"Everything else I will think about after the season."
