Former Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge sends emphatic three-word return message

Daniel Sturridge last played football in February 2020 - but the former Liverpool striker says a return is still on the cards.

Just 31, Sturridge hasn't played professionally since playing 55 minutes of Trabzonspor's 2-2 draw with Besiktas.

Sturridge had joined the Turkish side in August 2019 after the expiry of his contract at Anfield.

He left the Reds a European champion and despite an impressive seven goals in 16 games for his new club, Sturridge's time there was cut short when he was handed a worldwide football ban for breaching betting rules.

The four-month suspension led to the termination of his contract with Trabzonspor and he hasn't played since.

But a three-word tweet today confirmed Sturridge's intention to return to the game he loves.

Responding on Twitter to an article written by Goal journalist Emma Smith, in which the question was raised as to whether Sturridge would make a footballing comeback, he simply answered:

Sturridge remains popular with Liverpool fans having scored 67 goals in 160 games for the Reds in six years with the club.
