Former Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho set for loan move from Barcelona to Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich are in advanced negotiations with Barcelona over a loan deal for Philippe Coutinho.

According to a report from Spanish radio station RAC1, the two clubs are on the brink of agreeing deal which will see the former Liverpool star join the German giants on loan for the rest of the season.

Coutinho has been left out of Barca's squad for their opening league game away at Athletic Bilbao tonight, and has been linked with a move away from the Nou Camp all summer.

The former Kop attacker left Anfield in January of last year for a fee understood to be £146million, but after admitting it was a dream come true to play for the Catalan giants, the 27-year-old has gone on to endure a tough time in Spain.

After failing to nail down a place in his side's starting XI, the midfielder has been on the end of constant criticism from the club's supporters, with many taking aim at him for their poor end to the season.

Coutinho was continually linked with a move back to Liverpool this summer, but the Echo understands that the Reds had no interest in brining their former star back to the club.
