Former Liverpool star makes Andy Robertson claim after team selection controversy

The decision to leave out Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold from the FIFPro World XI raised eyebrows last month.

The full-backs racked up the most assists in the Premier League last season with Alexander-Arnold breaking the record for a defender.

However, both were overlooked for a place in the XI, losing out to Real Madrid's Marcelo and Sergio Ramos.

Former Liverpool left-back Jose Enrique spoke to Sky Sports about Robertson 's omission and believes the Scottish international was robbed.

"He is unbelievable. I've said it before, for me, last year he was the best left-back in the world," said Enrique.

"I know that was given to Marcelo but that was not fair in my opinion. Not just because Liverpool won the Champions League but because he has been an amazing player for Liverpool.

"He gives so much to that side. And him and (Sadio) Mane together (on Liverpool's left) - I wouldn't want to be on the right side for the other team."

Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah also missed out on a place in the XI but Virgil Van Dijk was selected alongside fellow Dutch international Matthijs de Ligt.

Alisson also earned spot in the XI as well as the Best Goalkeeper award.
