Former Liverpool man Javier Mascherano claims he preferred his time with the Reds as opposed to his trophy-laden period with Barcelona.
The Argentine spent three years at Anfield but failed to win anything before moving the the Nou Camp for €24m.
He helped the Reds finish second in the Premier League in 2009 and reach the Champions League semi-final, but after he moved to Spain the good times kept on coming.
Among his 19 trophies was the 2011 Champions League where he played as a centre-back in the final as Pep Guardiola looked to transition the Argentine.
But while he has special memories in Spain he admits it doesn't trump those he made in the north west of England.
"I obviously have a lot of love for Barcelona, I spent the best years of my career there but I would choose Liverpool," he told CNN.
“I feel something special for them. Yes, right now is the best in the world, Liverpool represents me a lot.”
The Reds ended their trophy drought back in May when they claimed the Champions League in Madrid.
That came after they narrowly missed out on the league title but they have more than made up for that this term.
Jurgen Klopp's side are on the cusp of history as they look to win the Premier League for the first time.
They have won 24 of their 25 games and are still in the hunt for the FA Cup while also looking to retain their European crown.
