Former Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho's agent slams Barcelona bosses - and makes surprise transfer confession

Philippe Coutinho's agent has slammed Barcelona bosses for their treatment of the Brazilian as he continues to be linked with a move away from Camp Nou.

The Brazilian has struggled in Spain since departing Anfield 18-months ago and has found his future the subject of constant speculation in recent months, with Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Manchester United repeatedly linked with a potential move.

But his representative Kia Joorabchian insists he will not be leaving the Catalan giants this summer after meeting with club president Josep Maria Bartomeu earlier this week.

This week alone, Spanish reports have claimed the former Liverpool man will be stripped of his number 7 jersey so it can be given to new signing Antoine Griezmann, with his position being undermined further with claims the Catalans want to move him on but haven't received any bids.

And having asked Bartomeu directly whether Barcelona want to sell Coutinho , Joorabchian has hit out at the source of such leaks to the media.

“I was told they have no intention of selling him, that Barcelona have not spoken to anyone and that stories to the contrary are simply not true,” Joorabchian told the Telegraph .

“I will not let people talk about Philippe and put him down because for one-and-a-half years we have said nothing. I won’t let them do that and all of us in Philippe’s camp will not let that happen because Barcelona have told us he is staying.

“Coutinho’s camp are not actively looking to move him but we believe people inside Barcelona may be acting without authority to try and sell the player.

“Either Barcelona have to contain the people within their organisation who are giving out information to the contrary or they have to tell us the truth if they have changed their minds.”
