Former Liverpool player Philippe Coutinho singled out by Barcelona fans as Champions League fallout continues

Former Liverpool player Philippe Coutinho was jeered and whistled by Barcelona fans on Sunday.

The La Liga champions played their final home game of the season versus Getafe, and Coutinho was in the starting line-up as Barca ran out 2-0 winners.

But it wasn't a pleasant affair for the No.7 as he received a hostile reception from his own supporters at the Camp Nou.

The Brazilian was dubbed 'invisible' by Spanish press following his display at Anfield last week as Barcelona crashed out of the Champions League.

According to Marca, fans whistled as Coutinho's name was announced in the starting line-up.

The 26-year-old continued to be singled out by supporters of the Catalan club, as he was the only player jeered as he touched the ball.

Coutinho departed Liverpool in 2018 and despite winning back-to-back titles the playmaker has struggled to settle in.

It was reported last week that due to a clause in Coutinho's contract the Reds would receive 5million Euros (£4.3million) after Ernesto Valverde's side reached the quarter-final stage of the Champions League.
