Former Liverpool player Lucas Leiva doubles Anfield success with Lazio

Former Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva won his second trophy with Lazio on Wednesday night.

The Brazilian started as the Roman club scored two late goals to win the Coppa Italia final against Atalanta.

Lucas made the move to Serie A in 2017 following a ten-year spell at Anfield.

During his time with Liverpool the 32-year-old came close to winning a Premier League title in both the 2008/09 and 2013/14 campaigns.

Though he did manage to depart Merseyside with a 2012 League Cup winners medal.

And soon after joining Lazio Lucas triumphed in his first competitive fixture for the club, winning the Italian Super Cup over Juventus.

This latest success means he has now doubled his tally.

The defensive midfielder signed a contract extension with the Italian outfit earlier this month, which is set to keep him at the Stadio Olimpico until 2022.

Lucas was the hero against Inter Milan in the quarter-final stage of the competition.

The former Gremio man held his nerve to score the crucial penalty in a shootout which ended 5-4 to Lazio.
