Former Liverpool owner George Gillett's son 'in negotiations to buy' Championship club Derby County

Former Liverpool owner George Gillett's son is reportedly in negotiations to buy Championship side Derby County.

Foster Gillett, who was appointed a director at Anfield during his father's and Tom Hicks' tenure as Liverpool owners, is said to have held talks with Rams' owner Mel Morris.

Sportsmail have reported Gillett Jnr visited Pride Park towards the end of last season and any prospective takeover is being valued at around £60million.

Premier League chasers Derby County reached the play-off final under Frank Lampard last season but lost out to Aston Villa at Wembley.

The former England midfielder left the club to become manager of Chelsea this summer.

Derby, who are struggling to emulate their form from last term, currently sit 19th in the table having won just one of six games so far.
