Former Liverpool midfielder Emre Can to resume Borussia Dortmund training in special circumstances

Former Liverpool midfielder Emre Can will return for training with Borussia Dortmund on Monday in groups of two.

The Bundesliga high-fliers have made the decision to head back to their regime but coronavirus safety measures only allows stars to work in pairs.

A time-frame for when the Bundesliga will return has not yet been set but Can is excited for the special sessions in which he has been partnered with team-mate Mahmoud Dahoud.

“It’s important that we go back to the field,” Can, who completed a permanent transfer to Dortmund from Juventus in January, said. "It doesn't get boring."

Dortmund are second in the Bundesliga, four points behind Bayern Munich and one ahead of RB Leipzig.

But Can, who left Liverpool on a free transfer in 2018, remains hopeful they can lift the title when the season resumes.

"It will be very, very difficult. We still have direct duels with Bayern and Leipzig,” he said.

“We have a good squad, it won't be easy. But I think yes, that it [winning the league] is still possible.”
