Former Liverpool and Germany midfielder Dietmar Hamann has submitted a not guilty plea to a Sydney court after being charged with assaulting a woman while on holiday.

The 45-year-old, who won the Champions League with the Reds in 2005, did not attend the court near Bondi Beach.

Hamann was arrested and released on bail after allegedly pushing a woman at a house in Randwick last week.

He was charged with domestic violence-related common assault.

The case was adjourned until Dec. 12, the Australian Associated Press reported.
