Former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers breaks silence on Manchester United rumours

Former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has reiterated his stance on the Manchester United manager’s job.

The ex-Reds boss and now Leicester City manager has been linked with taking over in the Old Trafford dugout should Ole Gunnar Solskjaer be relieved of his duties.

Liverpool’s 5-0 win over Man United put increasing pressure on Solskjaer, leading to the likes of Rodgers being linked with his job should a vacancy occur.

Rodgers joined Leicester in February 2019 and is closing in on three years in the job, and he has reiterated his commitment to the Foxes amid rumours over joining Man United.

Speaking after Leicester’s defeat to Arsenal on Saturday, Rodgers was asked about what he wants to achieve at the King Power Stadium in the long-term.

"It is an absolutely brilliant club for a manager, a coach, to be here developing players,” Rodgers told BT Sport.

“You have nowhere near the levels of finance as some of the bigger clubs but what we can certainly do here is compete and that’s what we always want to do.

“Great training ground, great bunch of players who will improve and develop and we keep fighting to improve.

“We’ll see if we can try and get to the next level."
