Former Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina 'set for' Premier League transfer

Former Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina could be set for a return to the Premier League with Aston Villa.

Spanish title AS are reporting that the 37-year-old is poised to join Dean Smith's side for the rest of the season, with the option of an extra season.

Reina's agent Manuel García Quilón have reportedly agreed a deal with Villa and are currently negotiating his exit for AC Milan.

Reina left Liverpool in 2013, initially on loan, after eight seasons at Anfield which saw him make 394 appearances and win the FA Cup and League Cup.

Rafa Benitez's most expensive signings

After a season on loan at Napoli, Reina joined Bayern Munich in 2014 and spent one season in Germany before returning to Napoli for three years, where he played under his old Reds manager Rafa Benitez.

He joined AC Milan in 2018 but has only featured once for the Rossoneri this season, although he did make a last penalty save against Genoa to help secure a Milan win.
