Former Liverpool player Steve Peplow has died at the age of 72.
Peplow was local to Liverpool and initially signed for the club as an apprentice in 1964.
After two years, the winger signed his first professional contract with the club in 1966 and would go on to become a prolific goalscorer for the reserves.
In the 1968/69 season, Peplow scored 19 goals, which caught the attention of first-team manager Bill Shankly.
Shankly would hand Peplow a chance in the first team the following season in 1969/70, making his debut against West Ham at Anfield in November 1969, which was the first match televised in colour on the BBC's Match of the Day.
Peplow would eventually leave Liverpool in 1970 - after making three appearances for the club - to join Swindon Town on loan, before the move was later made permanent.
Another move to Nottingham Forest came in 1973, but a few months later he was back on Merseyside with Tranmere Rovers.
Signing in 1974, Peplow would go on to make 272 appearances for Tranmere, scoring 42 goals, before retiring in 1981.
