Former Liverpool FC star claims football has treated Man City unfairly this season

Liverpool legend Pepe Reina has labelled Manchester City as the team who football has been most unfair to this season, although he claims that 'justice has been done' with Liverpool making the Champions League final.

Although City claimed an unprecedented treble this season by winning the Carabao Cup, Premier League and FA Cup, they fell short in the Champions League.

Pep Guardiola's side were eliminated in heartbreaking fashion by Tottenham after Raheem Sterling's last second winner was correctly ruled out for offside by VAR at the end of a thrilling encounter.

Spurs would go onto reach the final in Madrid after an unbelievable comeback against Ajax and they'll meet Liverpool, who performed a stunning U-turn of their own against Barcelona.

Reina believes the Champions League will leave a 'bad taste' in City's mouths.

“Maybe with City,” he told Goal after being asked which team football had been the most unfair to this season.

"For the squad it has but has not achieved the Champions League in the last three years with Guardiola. They have a bad taste in their mouths because they could not reach the final.

"But justice has been done with Liverpool's football, with which there has also been unfairness if we see that they have not managed to win the Premier League despite getting 97 points and having lost a single game. That is also bad luck.”
