Former Liverpool FC midfielder Xabi Alonso explains how Man City boss Pep Guardiola will approach Premier League title race

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola will focus on every little detail as his side battles Liverpool for the Premier League title.

That is according to former Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich midfielder Xabi Alonso, who played under Guardiola in Germany.

Alonso won two of his three Bundesliga titles with Guardiola, so is no stranger to how the City boss will be preparing his team for each game with just five games remaining in the Premier League season.

And Alonso revealed the key to Guardiola's success is his man management and attention to detail.

He told Nico Rosberg in his  Beyond Victory  YouTube series: "Pep was a great motivator, and as a human being he was really intense and passionate,"

"He was a great strategist about the game, about what we had to do to play good football and about the little details he was bang on it.

Comparing Guardiola to other managers he played under, Alonso refused to say whether the Spaniard was a better manager than Rafa Benitez or Jose Mourinho.

He continued: "For me, Pep was a great last challenge for me. But Rafa, Mourinho and Pep all have their positives."
