Former Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren scores terrible own goal

Former Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren scored a dreadful own-goal while playing for Zenit St Petersburg on Wednesday evening.

Lovren left the Reds for Russia in an £11m deal in the summer, having helped Jurgen Klopp's men win the Champions League, Club World Cup and Premier League.

Zenit are top of the Russian Premier League and were facing second-placed Spartak Moscow in a crucial clash when Lovren struck at the wrong end.

Lovren's side were ahead through Sardar Azmoun when the 31-year-old tried to chest a deep cross back to goalkeeper Andrey Lunyov.

But instead of nestling safely into his goalkeeper's hands, Lovren looked on in horror as the ball looped up and over Lunyov into the back of the net.

Lovren has enjoyed a successful start to life with Zenit, scoring twice in 22 games and helping his side to the best defensive record in the Russian top flight.
