Former Liverpool CEO linked with Wrexham role under Ryan Reynolds

It's exciting times for Wrexham and the club's supporters right now.

Yesterday came confirmation that Hollywood A-listers Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney had completed a stunning takeover at The Racecourse.

They announced the news is hilarious fashion, releasing a mock advertising video for Ifor Williams Trailers, the club's main sponsor, before explaining why they had chosen Wrexham to invest in.

Plans for £2million investment and a documentary have already been mooted, and now another stellar name is being linked with the North Wales outfit.

Former Liverpool CEO Peter Moore has been mentioned as a possible addition to the roster.

Moore, 66, spent three years as Anfield chief having arrived in June 2017 and oversaw a period of growth and success on and off the field. He handed over responsibility to Billy Hogan last August.

Earlier this month Reynolds and McElhenney presented their vision to Wrexham supporters via Zoom and revealed they would be looking for a CEO with a proven track record.

Moore certainly fits that bill, with roles at Reebok, Sega, Microsoft and EA Sports on his impressive CV, as well as his position at Anfield. He has a connection with North Wales, too, having taught PE in Llangollen in his earlier career.

He did, however, tell the Liverpool ECHO earlier this year that the reason he was stepping down on Merseyside was to spend more time with his family based in the US - thus throwing some shade on speculation linking him with the non-league club.

"We had a succession plan in place with Billy Hogan, who has been at the club eight years and is an FSG veteran," said Moore.

"So it was a very smooth transition as you can probably see and a lot of the rationale behind it is my wife and I have six kids between us. When I say kids, my eldest is 37 and they are spread all across America and here.

"I have one daughter who lives here and loves Liverpool and lives here with us, but the other five are kind of spread between New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco and I think our plans were always to go back.

"But what has gone on since March has just accelerated that thought process that we just need to get back and I am approaching 66 years of age and you've only got so much time with your kids, so from that perspective, it was decided that it was probably the right time."
