What Rafa Benitez has already said about new Everton manager job and other Premier League roles

Former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has already admitted that he has been keen to return to England for his next job.

Benitez has been out of work since leaving Chinese Super League side Dalian Professional in January by mutual consent, and there was talk he could be back in the Premier League very soon even before he was linked with the role at Everton.

Tottenham had been after a new manager after sacking Jose Mourinho, and there were some suggestions the ex-Newcastle boss could take over after the likes of Julian Nagelsmann and Eric Ten Hag were unavailable.

However, Paulo Fonseca has emerged as Spurs first choice, leaving potential openings at Crystal Palace, Wolves and Everton for Benitez.

The former Reds man currently lives in Liverpool, and he’s admitted that he is not interested in moving to another country for his next job.

Benitez says that he has been watching Premier League and Championship matches, in preparation for whenever an offer to manage in England comes his way once again.

"I moved to China because there were no top sides here, so I needed to keep competing and doing my job," Benitez told Sky Sports .

"But at the moment I'm quite keen to stay in England, in Liverpool. I'm watching every Premier League game and sometimes Championship games so that I'm always ready.

"The priority is England, the Premier League, my family is here and I like the style of football here. I will try to be ready here.

"I am watching the Serie A because it is a good league for me but there, in France, in Germany, in Portugal, I don't see too many options in these countries to have a project where you can develop players and make the team more competitive."
