Former Liverpool academy prospect Alfie Devine to seal Tottenham Hotspur transfer

Former Liverpool prospect Alfie Devine will complete a move to Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.

Devine, 15, has blossomed at Wigan Athletic since joining the Latics at 11 and appeared for the under-23 side managed by former Everton striker Nick Chadwick last season.

The midfielder represents England at youth level and will now join Spurs in a transfer heavily weighted with add-on fees in-line with his progression in North London.

The ECHO understands a deal is close and Devine will leave Wigan with the Championship club currently in administration and looking to sell the club to new owners.

Devine signed terms with Liverpool at seven but was released after turning 11.

He was snapped up by the Latics four months later and became one of the hottest talents outside of the Premier League when he was named player of the tournament at the SportChain Cup for England u-16s in December.

The teenager had trained with the first-team under Paul Cook at Wigan this season.
