Former Liverpool academy coach joins Nottingham Forest youth set-up

Nottingham Forest have added former Liverpool coach Dave Rogers to their backroom staff as assistant head coach.

The Reds have been searching for an assistant to Andy Reid ever since Chris Cohen's departure, but the position has now been filled by Rogers.

Rogers, a former Everton youth player, played for Dundee and Shelbourne among other clubs in a playing career between 1995 and 2012.

He stepped into coaching in January 2012 and has since taken roles with Liverpool as lead coach for the Reds' International Academy as well as International Academy Manager in South Korea.

The 45-year-old has experience on the international stage as assistant coach with the India national team. More recently, he was working in the USA.

On the appointment, Reid told the official club website: "It's great to have Dave with us and he brings a wealth of experience.

"Since Chris Cohen left it's a role we've been looking to fill and Dave has worked all around the world with the Liverpool Academy and was most recently the manager of FC Arizona in the United States.

"I did my coaching badges with him so I know the type of character that he is and I know how valuable he's going to be to the coaching set-up here."

Forest Under-23s opened their maiden Premier League 2 Division 2 campaign with a 5-2 defeat to Aston Villa at Bodymoor Heath on Friday (August 13).
