Former LIV Golfer Shares the Truth of His Relegation From the League

When OWGR refused to give LIV golfers world ranking points, LIV was told it needed change, including a relegation system.

While that is not much of a problem for the Jon Rahms and Bryson DeChambeaus of the world, some of the young up-and-comers at LIV Golf have to fight to keep their place.

That is what happened to Frederik Kjettrup.

Kjettrup grew up in Denmark, where he played many different sports. His brother got him into golf, and he has been a phenom ever since. For college, he attended Florida State, where he won three times in four seasons.

Once college ended, Kjettrup used his PGA Tour University status to begin playing on PGA Tour Americas, where he quickly dominated.

He found success that not many achieve so early. He won his first two events on tour, then followed that up with a third win a couple of months later. That is when the LIV call arrived.

He said it was a hard decision, but Kjettrup eventually chose to forgo his path to the PGA Tour and play on LIV.

Unfortunately for Kjettrup, it did not go as planned. He finished 57th out of 61 players last year and did not earn a point during his season on LIV. Because of the league’s relegation system, he was cut after one season.

Now, Kjettrup is serving his one-year PGA Tour suspension while trying to build his way back by stacking points on the Asian Tour.
