Former Leeds United target Ryan Kent's transfer limbo could be coming to an end

Former Leeds United transfer target Ryan Kent's future could be resolved before tonight's transfer deadline.

The Liverpool winger was a target for the Whites earlier this summer, with Victor Orta and company close to agreeing a deal to bring the 22-year-old to Elland Road before shifting their attention to Arsenal's Eddie Nketiah following Kemar Roofe's departure to Anderlecht.

After deciding that Nketiah would be a more like-for-like replacement for last season's leading scorer Roofe, Orta was able to broker a loan deal for the England under-21 international, leaving Kent with an uncertain future.

With his opportunities at Anfield limited and following a host of loan spells, the Reds were believed to be wanting to only let the player go on a permanent deal, but had reportedly priced out Kent's other suitors Rangers which left the player in limbo .

Kent spent last season on loan at Ibrox, with boss Steven Gerrard a known admirer of the former England under-20 international.

The transfer window in Scotland closes tonight and a report from Paul Joyce of the Times now claims that the Scottish side have been able to make the finances work with a fee in the region of £6-7million mooted.

Rangers lost the first Old Firm derby of the season 2-0 yesterday and now sit three points behind their Glasgow rivals. Adding Kent, who was a key player for them last season, to their squad will be a big boost for Gerrard and his coaching staff.
