Former Leeds United striker urges Marcelo Bielsa to snap up ex-Bristol City favourite

Albert Adomah is free agent after being named among Aston Villa's eight released players this week following their promotion to the Premier League via the play-off final.

The former Bristol City winger should be one of the most sought after free transfers this summer as he possesses a wealth of experience and, at 31, still has the capabilities of performing at a high level.

City have been mentioned as a potential, and obvious destination , for the Ashton Gate favourite who made 136 appearances for the club, along with Stoke City and Leeds United.

And it's the latter club who could present the most compelling offer to the Ghanian as Marcelo Bielsa looks to extra pace and width in his team to spark another promotion bid next summer.

Jack Harrison, 22, has returned to parent club Manchester City following a fruitful loan at Elland Road and former Leeds striker Noel Whelan believes the club should be aiming to bring in a player of Adomah's quality to replace him.

"Leeds should absolutely be looking at Adomah," Whelan, who came through the academy at Leeds before making his debut in 1993, told Football Insider .

"We’ve tried to sign him before a few times and we should try again. You need players who can open the door and Adomah has pace and that bit of quality you need.

"He can create havoc with his directness and what a player you can have at your football club.

"I know Marcelo Bielsa likes working with younger players but Leeds fell short this season because of that lack of experience and know-how to get across the line.

"Who would get you more goals and assists? Adomah, or Jack Harrison? Adomah would, for me. He’s far better than Harrison. He could be a great free signing."

Aston Villa released list: Mile Jedinak, Alan Hutton, Tommy Elphick, Albert Adomah, Glenn Whelan, Ritchie De Laet, Mark Bunn, Micah Richards
