Former Leeds United stars listed as contenders for two vacant Championship manager jobs

Several former Leeds United managers and players are reportedly in the frame to take the reins at two vacant managerial spots at a pair of Championship rivals, according to latest odds.

While Marcelo Bielsa's side have enjoyed another strong start to the new campaign, several other sides have failed to follow suit and have subsequently parted ways with their coaches at this early stage of the season.

Among them include two key rivals, in the shape of fellow Yorkshire club Barnsley - who the Whites beat 2-0 last month - and Millwall, who United were edged out by in controversial fashion at the weekend.

Both Daniel Stendel and Neil Harris have both departed following mixed starts to 2019-20, with Adam Barrett having taken charge of the latter since on an interim basis.

But the Lions could turn to several faces previously established at Elland Road, with both former boss Steve Evans and striker Steve Morison among those listed at Sky Bet.

Evans, who currently is in charge of Gillingham, was in charge for eight months at United between 2015 and 2016, where he led a limp Whites side to only 14 wins in 38 games. He is 20/1 for the post at the time of writing, after drifting from the opening betting.

Morison meanwhile, who famously moved to Leeds in a swap deal before returning to Millwall himself, plays for Shrewsbury now but has been tipped as an outside candidate given his long affiliation with the club at 18/1.

Barnsley meanwhile are currently tipped to try to tempt Neil Redfearn to Oakwell, with the former Leeds and current Newcastle youth boss having played a vast chunk of his career in South Yorkshire during the nineties. He is currently a 10/1 shot.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink too is one prospective candidate, with the former Dutch fan favourite having last coached with Northampton Town in 2018. After being one of the early favourites, he has now drifted out to 18/1 with SkyBet.
